PHYSICAL AND MENTAL FITNESS: Operators must be mentally and physically capable of performing all duties and/or operating equipment, which is demanding. I am in good physical and mental condition. I am able to bend, stretch, kneel, stand, mount and dismount equipment, lift objects, and shovel mud/dirt if required.*
WORK LOAD: Heavy Equipment Operators in many areas of industry do NOT work just a forty hour week. You may be required to work long hours, several days in a row, and overtime. I am willing to work these hours, and in a team environment, to meet production deadlines.*
SMOKING: Smoking is not allowed in machines or in the classroom. This includes tobacco, cannabis and electronic cigarettes. Your instructor can clarify smoking rules.*
DRUG & ALCOHOL USE: Industry standards are ZERO TOLERANCE for Drug and Alcohol use. The HEO program mirrors these expectations and will be strictly enforced. Drug testing is an industry standard, and as such drug use will not be tolerated. Students with prescriptions that may trigger a positive drug test will need to provide medical clearance in writing from his/her physician prior to operating machinery. This clearance must indicate that the student will be capable of operating machinery in a safety sensitive environment without any impairment. Any student suspected to be under the influence and/or impaired by alcohol or drugs/medication will be immediately removed from the site due to safety concerns. An incident report will be filed and signed by all parties. A meeting with the Registrar will be scheduled to discuss the incident. If it is found that the student has violated the CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY (policy A38) expulsion will result.*
